Gareth’s story

Cartref Ni have supported Gareth since April 1998. Gareth likes to be busy and loves animals.

Gareth has also picked up litter almost every week in St Asaph for many years, for which he was presented with a cake by St Asaph Random Acts of Kindness.

This is Gareth’s story –

I love spending time with animals and as well as working at a farm two days every week, I go to the zoo at least twice a month. The seals are my favourite animals – I could sit and watch them all day.

I really wanted to experience being a zoo keeper for a day, but it was very expensive. I was supported to apply to a fund that Cartref Ni has available for those it supports for help, and they helped to make my dream come true!

I fed lots of animals that day – bears, seals, penguins, meerkats to mention a few, and at the end of a fantastic day, I was presented with a certificate. That’s me in the picture with my certificate, which now has pride of place on my mantlepiece. It was a day I will never forget!
