BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MEET OUR TRUSTEES
Our charity is overseen by an experienced Board of Trustees, who are also Directors of the company and provide strategic direction to our Chief Executive.
Tricia Bochenski Chair of Trustees
Tricia has been a Trustee for approximately 20 years and Chair for 12 years. She supports Cartref Ni by leading quarterly meetings, assisting in some appointments, visiting homes and familiarising herself with the company’s operations.
Tricia’s principal area of expertise is her role as parent and advocate for her son who has been a person we support at Cartref Ni for around 20 years.
She can understand first hand how written policies are translated into action for individuals in their own homes and is well known by staff and people we support. As a parent, Tricia will be here for the long-run and her contribution to the company is something she is very grateful of and proud to represent.
Mark Roberts
Mark has been a Trustee since 2008 and brings with him a wealth of experience of running large scale operations to aid Cartref Ni in making important strategic decisions in how we govern the organisation.
Mark is an experienced Director and senior leader having worked for a number of organisations and other charities delivering public services which contribute to social impact. As a Chartered Marketer by profession, he also has a keen interest in how the charity is able to professionally represent itself to all stakeholders.
A Dad of 2 grown up lads making their own way in life; in his spare time Mark is an avid canal boater, cruising the waterways with his wife Sue on their narrowboat MayBee Tomorrow.
Jane Brown
Jane’s top priority is that Cartref Ni maintains its values and ethos and puts the people we support at the centre of all decisions, maintaining the highest standards of person-centred support and a rewarding place to work for everyone.
As a Trustee Jane aims to visit the people we support and the support teams at least a couple of times per year. Although this has been challenging during Covid, the Garden Competition has enabled Trustees to visit several people in a positive and fun way.
Alison Brebner
Alison has been a Trustee for many years and enjoys overseeing the running of the company by attending quarterly meetings with the management team.
Retired since 2016, Alison was previously a family and public law solicitor where she acted as solicitor for the children’s guardian in local authority child care proceedings.
She was also the Managing Director of her own firm bringing with her a wealth of legal and business experience.
Val Hawker
Val has been a Parent Trustee since 2019 with her daughter Victoria being cared for by Cartref Ni in her own property in Flintshire.
Val is now retired from her work as a Fraud Investigator for Marks and Spencer Bank where she worked for over twelve years and thoroughly enjoyed it. Previous to this Val was a magistrate and served at Chester Magistrates Court from 2001 until 2015.
Val is a valued Trustee and has a great ability to listen to others, parents, residents and fellow trustees. She has the ability to be able to agree to disagree but can make her feelings known when necessary.
Gavin Coates
Gavin’s lifetime of accumulated knowledge and experience gained in the commercial world contributes to the objectives of the Board of Trustees and helps to support the Cartref Ni vision.
In previous roles throughout his career he has managed diverse teams of individuals primarily in large retail store environments.
Gavin is now looking forward to visiting people we support in their own homes and the staff who support them to reaffirm to them the vital role they play. A Parent Trustee, Gavin has a son with autism, Dominic, who is a happy member of the Cartref Ni family in Llandudno.
