A Rewarding Career
Support work is an excellent career path. It’s really varied and each day is completely different. Our support work team helps the people we support to live as independently as possible and get to see them grow and develop on a daily basis. Although sometimes challenging, being a support worker is a fantastic career and at Cartref Ni, you’ll be supported with all relevant training and education to help you fulfil your role.
We recruit support workers from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience from school leavers to people who have chosen to change careers.
Opportunities to Progress
At Cartref Ni, we give employees the opportunity to reach their full potential and develop in their career further if they wish to do so. We’ve had many support workers that have chosen to progress to higher education in management positions internally as part of our succession planning or progressed in their careers externally in other roles such as nursing or social work.
“Almost 90% of our support workers are qualified to level 3 or higher.”
Developing People
No matter where you are in your career path, we understand the importance of developing our staff with industry recognised training and qualifications. All front line staff employed by Cartref Ni are required to complete a nationally recognised level 2 Apprenticeship in health and social care and are given the option to further complete the level 3 Diploma in health and social care if they choose.
We also know that it is essential for the quality of service we provide that all our staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills they require to enhance the lives of the people we support. Our support workers are also able to specialise in an area of their work by studying for a level 4 diploma in professional practice.
We recognise professional workers need to continually learn and develop. All of our support workers are given training and Continuing Professional Development opportunities all year round in a variety of subjects to support their role and registration. This is in addition to various statutory and mandatory training for example safeguarding, infection control, medication and health and safety.
